With the completion of the genome sequencing for human and other model organisms, due to the constraints of current wet experiments, exploring the underlying laws from the high throughput biological data based on bioinformatics and computational biology becomes more and more important in the post-genomic era. Bioinformatics is a new field, interdisciplinary in nature, including the acquisition, management, storing, distribution, analyzing and interpretation for biological data. By integrating biology, computer sciences and information technologies, bioinformatics is an effective tool to uncover the underlying regularities of the life. Especially, based on the models and methods of intelligent computing, recent years bioinformatics rapidly develops in the aspects of genomics and proteomics.

Sponsored by Chinese Academy of Sciences, this workshop is being organized by the Institute of Intelligent Machines and School of Life Science as well as Automation Department of University of Science and Technology of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences to gather the researchers in the areas of bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, machine learning and intelligent computing. Well-known scientists in this area will also be invited in this workshop. As approved by Chinese Academy of Sciences, the initiator of this workshop is Prof. De-Shuang Huang, and all the accepted papers will be published by Press of University of Science and Technology of China as paper proceedings.
