CALL FOR PAPERS

ICIC2005 Special Session on

Probabilistic Object Tracking in Image Sequences

August 23-26, 2005

Sofitel Grand Park Hefei, China

Goals and Scope

Object tracking is an active and expanding research area in the computer vision community. It plays a critical role in applications such as monitoring and surveillance, human-computer interfaces, biomedical image analysis, mobile robots, etc. The probabilistic approach to tracking is attracting increasing research due to both its theoretical appeal and its practical success. The objective of this special session is to bring together researchers working on all aspects of object tracking, with a particular focus on probabilistic approaches.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

* Non-linear and non-Gaussian estimation using particle filters
* Kalman filtering and extensions for object tracking
* New probabilistic models for object dynamics or for the observation process
* New probabilistic interpretations of tracking algorithms
* Novel object tracking algorithms and technologies
* Applications of object tracking to real-world problems

Paper Submission and Review Process

Prospective authors are invited to submit an electronic version of the manuscript (PDF format or PS format). In order to submit papers, authors have to register abstracts to peihualj@hotmail.com . Afterwards, a registration notification containing the guidelines for the full paper submission will be sent to the author's email address. Please note that submission implies the willingness of at least one author to register and present the paper.

Every manuscript will be reviewed by at least two referees. The selection of papers will be based on originality, significance, soundness and relevance to the special session. The reviews and decision on acceptance will be sent to authors before the end of March, and the papers not accepted by the special issue can be re-submitted to the main conference.

Publication:

The papers accepted by the special session, together with those by regular conference sessions, will be published by Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science. The prospective authors should therefore prepare their manuscript, not exceeding 8 pages, according to LNCS format.

Important Dates:

Deadline for Abstract Submission: March 5, 2005
Deadline for Manuscript Submission: March 10, 2005
Notification to Authors:  End of March , 2005
